After waking up, Li Wenxiu and Gu Shiye discover that they have both transmigrated into the 1970s setting of a period drama they had finished watching the night before, The Rough 1970s Man and His Lucky Koi Wife.
In this story, they are merely cannon fodder characters meant to contrast with the so-called lucky koi heroine, who continuously drains the fortune and opportunities of those around her.
Realizing they are bound by the plot’s control, the couple awakens and breaks free from its influence, reclaiming a spatial golden finger to protect their own luck from being taken.
Their in-laws, deeply influenced by the plot, insist on favoring the youngest daughter-in-law while neglecting their three sons, leading to conflict within the family and ultimately a decision to split apart.
Once separated from the family support and the heroine’s supposed luck, the youngest daughter-in-law quickly loses her facade, and her life falls into disorder.
Meanwhile, Li Wenxiu and Gu Shiye steadily build a new life. One pursues higher education by entering university, while the other seizes the opportunities of the era to start a business. Together, they live an increasingly prosperous life.
